My G3 Mac with OS 9.1 has started to crash when loading OE 5.0.6. It
gets most of the way through the loading but just freezes before
completion. I've downloaded a fresh copy of OE but this does the same.
I cleared the server before loading but no joy. Any suggestions would
be appreciated.

It sounds like the message database and/or the preferences files are
corrupt.

Start by compacting the database and see what happens...

<http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tg.online/keyboard/oe5_database.html>

If that doesn't work, try moving or renaming the following file...

Mac HD:Documents:Microsoft User Data:Identities:[your Identity]:Preferences

...and also delete the following...

Mac HD:System Folder:Preferences:Outlook Express Prefs

By moving or renaming the Preferences file in the Identities folder, you
will remove all information stored in the Tools > Accounts section of OE,
and this would need to be reconfigured afterwards.
