OE and Mac problem

Our users use Outlook express in Mac and have many problem related to
sending attached file

1. Mac OE users will forward other received email to PC user. But PC user
will receive one more attached with smaller file size attachment.

For example, MAC user will foward email with attachment ABC.JPG(1M file
size ) to PC user. PC user then will receive this email with 2 files ABC.JPG
(1M) & ABC.JPG (3k). So PC user need to ignore ABC.JPG(3k) which has no
content.

2.  If internal PC user forward email to internal Mac user, then Mac user
forward that email to other internal PC user. The PC user will receive email
without attachment which is expanded in the email content like long code.

The problem now is the MAC users always reports that the problem should be
caused by internal email server.

But is it related to MAC outlook express? Should they be better to change
other MAC email program? Please advise. Thanks much.

Might be time to upgrade your hardware and software.

What version of Mac OS are you currently using?

If you are still in 9.x or earlier make sure you have the latest version of
OE which can be downloaded here;

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/DOWNL
OAD/OE/oe5.xml&secid=40&ssid=6&flgnosysreq=True

If you're running any version of OS X you really should go to a different
email client - I don't know, but I doubt that OE runs very well in Classic.
If that's what you're doing it could account for a lot of potential
problems.

OE runs every bit as well in Classic as it does when booted in OS 9.  I
have quite a few clients who are still using with without problems.
These are people who prefer the interface to OS X's Mail.app and who
don't want to pay MS to use Entourage.

The Mac user should change the settings in OE in order to have the
attachments sent without the "Resource fork" - which is a Mac-specific part
of the file. In the "Edit" > "Preferences" window, third pane (it should
read "Compose" or something of the kind - I'm using a French version) there
is a zone for changing the attachments settings. There he should make sure
that "Encoding" is set to "Windows (MIMIE/Base64)", and "Compression" to
"None".

Are the concerned messages in HTML format or just plain text? Might be
another encoding problem, but it's not easy telling without the ability to
check through...

As suggested by others, it's certainly time for a change to OS X. But OE can
be used as long as they're running Mac OS 9. It evens runs fine in "Classic"
but with OS X comes the Apple "Mail" mailer which is not too bad either,
even if it has it's own weaknesses. Another option could then be Entourage,
which is part of Office (which means it's not free), or Thunderbird (free).

Thankyou all of you. I think it can be solved if follow yr instruction and
the mac users in my company are very stupid. They don't let me check or try
and always complain that it's related to PC server. So may be let them go on
stupid way!
