Outlook Express Inbox corrupted

Something's gone way wrong w/ MAC email box, MAC G4, OS9.2.2, MS Outlook
Express 5.0.(6). I was cleaning up the Inbox, deleting & moving files, etc.
& lots of stuff got totally disassociated. Subjects, senders, etc. don't
match up, and lots of the emails have control information "<cell size> ",
etc. scattered about. I might open an email that's supposed to be from Joe
Blow, and instead find email or parts of an email from someone else.  It's
like the body of the emails got dissociated with everything else.  What
happened? Why? Can I get anything back? How can I prevent this? I haven't
cleaned out the Deleted Items folder, yet, but I did reset PRAM & rebuild
the desktop. There's no "Inbox Repair Tool" that I can find on Outlook
Express for MAC, and I couldn't find any troubleshooting info- MS doesn't
support this anymore.  I did try to compact the database and also a complex
rebuild.  None of those helped.  I have a lot of old emails, I don't clean
up often.  But, I do try to keep Spam & unknown mail out, and I clean up
Deleted Items regularly.  It looks like Outlook Express did not clean out
previous versions of itself, but I think 5.0.6 is all that runs.

It sounds like you've done all of the right things in terms of attempting to
resolve the problem.  If none of those worked, not even the OE database
compact, then I shouldn't imagine that you'll get any further success in
retrieving your data.

I guess your only course of action seems to be to create a new Identity
within OE and start again.
