Green Question Mark next to address when addressing message?

Hi,

A customer of mine says she sometimes gets a green question mark (instead of
the usual @ sign next to an AOL address that she frequently sends to. She
says it does not happen 100% of the time.

As far as I can tell, the person is not in her address book, and she
manually types the email address each time.

I looked in the OE help file, and found only this next to the section that
explains the various status icons:

"Microsoft Outlook Express will search for the correct address in your
default directory service the next time you connect"

This is an elderly novice who would not knowingly have set up a directory
service account. My two questions are: What causes this status icon to
appear, and is this a sign that she has a directory service account that
needs to be removed to avoid confusion?

Thanks,
W.

I think this is a sign to say that the recipient address is not always being
entered correctly, perhaps part of the domain is being omitted and hence OE
is indicating that it will try to determine the real address at the next
connection.  If you could set up the address book for your customer, it
would probably help them no end.
