I have large groups in my address book with email addresses that are not in
my regular address book.  I need to manage these, i.e. search to see if an
address is already there so I do not duplicate, and find an address so that
I can delete it.  Any suggestions>  I have OE 5.01.

5.01 !!!

Please update! mainly for security reasons

Outlook Express Ver 5.0.1 is flakey pastry,
I think the current version is 5.0.6, (the last version)
free download from Microsoft Mactopia
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/DOWNLOAD/oe/oe5.asp>

(Proviso, do not use the alias supplied! it is broken, make your own).
But before using this version,
copy any news messages that you want to keep,
(to a subfolder of your Inbox?).

With your current setup, make a screenshot of each of the Accounts settings,
(CAPS lock, Apple, shift, 4, click window), you may need this later.

Suggest moving/(copying for safety) "Identities" to "Microsoft User Data" in
the Documents folder, if it's not there already, (don't think it was with
5.0.1). This is so you don't lose your current messages.

Update the Internet Control Panel too, eMail, Web, News (default app).

Resist the temptation to chuck 5.0.1 folder,
it may contain your eMails too,
just compress the OE app, so the Mac can't see it as an app,
then it will use the newer version,
(chuck out later after testing for a few days?).

Then you can try <http://www.scriptbuilders.net/> and search for Groups,
Paul Berkowitz has made a few that you might like.
