I've been using Outlook Express on my Mac OS 8.6 for years and all of the
sudden experience a problem sending emails.
When I click on SEND, it used to send my email messages with no problems
whatsoever. Now, I get an Error Message: 5.7.1 This system is not
configured to relay mail from (my email address)....
ERROR 5501
Is there anyone who can offer help to fix this problem? I have not changed
my settings on my computer....thanks!

Mail relaying errors should only occur when the outgoing mail (SMTP) server
does not match that of the ISP with which you connect to the Internet.  If
you genuinely haven't changed your settings within Outlook Express, then it
implies that your connection to the Internet is being established via a
different ISP, or that your ISP is for some reason blocking mails from being
sent from your particular IP range.  Have you disconnected and tried again
yet?

If you still don't get any success, contact your ISP and advise them that
you are experiencing mail relaying errors.  They should be able to confirm
whether or not anything has changed at their end.

HTH,

Ricky
