OE has lost track of my accounts

For no apparent reason OE suddenly lost track of my accounts. Now when I
launch OE I get a virgin account with only a single email message and no
addresses. When I try to switch identities all I get is Main Identity in the list.
My correct identity folder is located at the following path: HD/Applications/
Earthlink/Microsoft Internet Applications/Outlook Express 5.0.2/Identities/
rbarline. The OE application file that is running is located in the Outlook
Express 5.0.2 folder.

Can anyone help me figure out why OE has lost track of my account and how
I can restore it? I am using an iMac running OS9.1 Thanks!

Sounds like you need to move this Identities folder to the normal location
which is Mac HD:Documents:Microsoft User Data:Identities:

Thanks. That didn't work, but this did: I moved my identity folder from
where it was to the following location: HD/Applications/Earthlink/Microsoft
Internet Applications/Outlook Express 5.0.2/OE Users. Note that this
version of OE came on an Earthlink-provided CDROM. Could it be that they
have altered the path from the normal path?

The installation of OE does not alter the pathway in which the application
will look for its mail.  It's just that OE is able to read from more than
one possible mail pathway.

These are normally limited to...

Mac HD:Documents:Microsoft User Data:Identities:
Mac HD:[path to OE application folder]:Identities:

However, for legacy purposes, it is possible to read mail from a folder in
the same pathway above labelled OE User(s) (this is the folder label used by
OE 4.x).

I can see why this seems a little confusing (I didn't design it!) but at
least you have got your data back.
