A colleague recently switched to an ibook running 9.2.2 and OE 5.0.6 (OS 10
is also installed on the machine, but it is booted from 9.2.2).

When she double clicks an attachment, she gets an error message, something
to the effect that OS 10.1 or later must be running.  (attachments are word
and excel docs)

Office 98 is installed and works fine.

She is able to save the attachment and then open from within word or excel.
Double clicking on the file does not work after saving either.

It sounds like it might be a File Exchange problem, not an OE issue.  Has
anyone heard of this?  Suggestions?

Many Thx.

If OS X is also installed, it's probable the Office Test Drive is installed.
It's trying to open the documents in that.

I'm hazy on how to fix this in OS 9, but I think you can highlight one of
the documents and Get Info on it (File > Get Info) and then change the
default program to open it. If I'm wrong, I'll correct when I get home
tonight (assuming no one beats me to it).
