Virtual PC for the MAC

Hi guys, I really hope you can help: I have a iMAC G5 with a GeForce
Graphics card. I use it for design but purchased Virtual PC so I could
play PC games on the MAC. I was told I wouldn't need to buy anything
else.

However...Virtual PC is running very slow, and because I'm new to PC's,
is there something I have to do with the settings on the MAC as well as
the PC?

Also, the PC says it has no Video 3D activation. I am not sure if I can
get it to run from the MAC's Graphics Card and processor.

It won't load any games, and I am sure I am doing something wrong.

Any help would be SOOOOO much appreciated.

Cheers guys. I wait in hope.

PS: the MAC should be plenty powerful enough RAM: 2 Gig - 1.6 processor
and GeForce.

sorry, but I think you are out of luck. Virtual PC does not take advantage
of graphics card hardware acceleration and instead does these functions in
emulated software. Additionally, because the entire Intel hardware is
emulated in software it is slower than "real" hardware. VPC is not really an
attractive option for PC gaming.

I guess it would seem so then. Looks like I'll have to buy a PC for the
games then.

Cheers anyway.

personally, if i had the money, i'd buy an upgraded mac (panther) and have
fun with that.  windows games were created, imho, to self-destruct your
computer, ESPECIALLY ON-LINE GAMES!!

i, too, was thinking of purchasing a cheapo windows computer to be able to
play the games on shockwave.com, etc; and then, my son AND my husband, both
computer gurus of both types of computers, gently explained to me that
internet web online games (or worse, d/loaded games) are specifically
designed to load your hard drive with "junk" and after less than 6 months,
you either must buy a new hard drive OR  find someone to clean out the
gunk...either way, it's just not worth it.

if you are interested, i can send your site names where you can play
games....or download for both OS X OR lower (like me with 9.2)

give it a try....remember if you have a windows computer, no matter how many
virus protection programmes you might have, you're STILL gonna get one, get
hacked into, lose your hd, etc etc.
