I am brand spanking new to Mac's.... This is my first one... Been using pc's
for the last 20 yrs or so (TRS 80 was my first)
I was wondering if there is anyway to create a sub-window underneath the
apple on the menu bar for applications.... So that I can sorta use it like a
windows start menu instead of having to go to he MacHD all the time to open
something...

Also I seem to be having problems sending email ... I can receive just fine
but not send

If this is Mac OS 9 or earlier, open up your hard drive and go to System
Folder > Apple Menu Items. Create a folder here. Put a space in front to
bump it to the top of the list.

You can then make Aliases (like Windows shortcuts) of your application icons
and put them here. I think the command to make an alias is under the File
menu.

In OS X, you cannot easily modify the Apple icon, but you can add folders to
the dock at the bottom of the screen. Just drag your Applications folder to
the right side of the Dock.

Using what email application? What happens when you try? How do you have
your email application configured? Please be specific.

Hi Randall,

I'm also a former and at home current PC user.  By reading the help function
on the main screen of the Mac I have learned a lot about its eccentricities.
For one thing the f5 key can be used to set your function keys as hot keys.
I have assigned f1 to f4 to files I use all the time.  Skip the Mac tutorial
it basically introduces you to the concept of a mouse (duh).  Good luck.
It's kind of fun by computer standards.
