I recently run Software Update on my G4/700Mhz iMac. After doing the
security update, it restarts to a black empty screen asking me for my
login and password. Now what is that??!!! I tried putting the desired
login but to no avail... Please help!

I'm on OSX 10.2.8

If you have forgotten your password, you can (or at least could with the
previous version of X.1) insert the system CD, and from one of the menus at
the top you can select "change password"

hope this helps,
MIKE T

Try reinstalling Mac OS X because this might be a fatal problem. Command
prompts are sometimes fatal problems unless you want to see a command
prompt.

Had the same problem, I solved it by starting up from system installer and
then run disc-aid program, restarted my computer and the problem was solved.
