My friend leaves tomorrow, and he's decided the computer's working so
well, he wants to use it on the plane.  On the Delta planes he's
taking tomorrow, all classes have EmPower jacks.

I looked at best buy but can't find a Mac airplane adapter, iiuc.

I have one but the tips don't look anything like the tip on the Mac
adapter. The Mac looks like a coaxial connector, with a very thick pin
in the middle.

Is there much chance he can find one at a store tomorrow morning?
CompUSA is out of business.

Radio shack I'm looking at now, but it doesn't look good.

If you are inclined to email me
for some reason, remove NOPSAM  :-)

MM-

I have such an adapter for my G4 PowerBook.  It has an additional
connector that allows you to plug it into an auto's lighter socket.  It
is called a "G4 Auto/Air Adapter" and was made by Micro Accessories, Inc.

Mine was purchased from a local "Connecting Point" store that sells
Macintosh computers, software and accessories.  It is possible that
other Apple stores might carry something similar.  It is unlikely that
you would find it at a Radio Shack, Best Buy or CompUSA type of store
that doesn't specialize in Macintosh.

Many stores carry DC-to-AC inverters.  If you could find one made to
work with the Airline power jacks, it would allow you to use the Mac's
regular AC power supply.  I think a 100 Watt unit (or larger) would do
the job.  The only problem is that the Mac's AC power supply may get
hotter than usual since these inverters do not produce a pure sine wave
AC voltage.  (That was my experience prior to obtaining the Auto/Air
adapter.)
