Is there a Powerpoint Viewer app for the Macintosh?  I have Office 2003
installed on a PC and would like to share a presentation with my Mac based
friends.  They don't have Office.

thanks.

Craig-

Apple's iWork can probably do that.

A free program that will do it, is NeoOffice.  See
http://www.neooffice.org/
where it can be downloaded.

Hi Craig,

To expand on what Fred said...

The most recent PowerPoint viewer for Mac was made for PowerPoint 98, which
means it is celebrating its 10th anniversary.  The viewer is still available
and works on PowerPCs. In OSX it requires classic.  It does not support any
new features added since Office 98 was released, but it will open and play
as best it can any file that is in .ppt or .pps file format.

Here's the link to the viewer.

It's really quite bizzare that Microsoft wants Mac users to use OpenOffice
to view PowerPoint presentations. Usually Microsoft is accused of doing
everything in its power to keep customers "in the fold" by providing
complete solutions, but for newer versions of Microsoft Office they are
relying on Sun Microsystem's free OpenOffice product, which is a direct
competitor to Microsoft Office. It's not just giving Sun a "foot in the
door" it's like an open invitation to take the house over.

Granted, OpenOffice isn't as good as PowerPoint, has some compatibility
problems, looks sorta ugly and doesn't support add-ins or visual basic, but
for many people it's "good enough" to substitute for Microsoft Office - plus
it's free.

Hi,

Indeed it does - unless VBA or an add-in is in the mix.

However, the question posted was concerning a viewer, which is free, as
opposed an updated Mac version of the PowerPoint application, which costs
money.
