Dear all

We have just purchased an iMac and need help desperately! We have installed
both the Leopard OS and the Windows OS.

When we are on the Leopard OS we can go onto the internet seamlessly.

On Windows (Vista) the IMac can detect the wireless network but we cannot
connect!

Connected Linksys (wireless router) we have been refered to call Apple.
Technical support says we should try Microsoft.

Our other computer on Windows Vista (PC) is working well...... so it appears
that it is an IMAC / Vista issue.

Please advice?  Thanks so much!

Since you mention that the iMac can detect the wireless network [I'm
assuming while using Windows] then your wireless drivers should be set
up correctly.

But you don't mention what happens when you try to connect. What
messages do you receive telling you that you can not connect?

Are you running any third party security software such as Norton
Security? If so, disable that and then try to connect.

Hope this helps!

Hi Bill

Thank you for your reply!

No i have not even installed any third party software as yet.   Only
installed Windows Vista (Home Preimium) OS.

Windows Vista can detect my network.  When i click on 'connect' it tries and
the fails. I used the 'diagnose' and it says that windows cannot connect for
unknown reason.

I subsequently click on the 'diplay network' link and it says that 'adapter'
is not connected.

Called Linksys and we disable WEP security and turned off windows firewall
and reset to try .....

It did not work!

Really appreciate if you can give me further advice.

Million thanks from Kiko

Hi Kiko!

This could be a Windows issue (Microsoft) or a hardware issue (Apple).
I'm going to suggest you post your question in the Apple forum for Boot
Camp and Wi-Fi issues
<http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1242>. You'll find more
users there than here with the setup you have. Be sure to search the
forum first in case your question has already been asked and answered.

Hope this helps!

I had the same problem and solved it by unencrypting the router. For
some reason Windows XP on my Macpro laptop cannot connect to the router
when it is encrypted. But I  am still on Tiger OS with that system. It
says that I am connected when I use wireless, but it does not ask for
the password and it cannot find the server.

I have Leopard on my Macpro Quad at work, and Bootcamp connects well to
the Internet via the normal Ethernet connection.

I think I might have an answer for you, I just had the same problem and the
lady at linksys helped me....
open your router settings,
go to wireless security, change your encryption to wpa personal, enter an
alphanumeric sequence about 10-21 characters long and save your changes...
in windows vista:
start-->control panel--->network and sharing center--->manage wireless
networks.(left side of window) delete all preffered networks.
back in the network and sharing center, click connect to a network.
click on your wireless network and enter your passphrase. It worked right
off the bat for me, I hope it does for you as well!!! Good luck!!!!
