I have a Intel Imac operating on 10.4.10. I just purchased a HP/Compac
laptop, It is operating on Vista Home Premium. I have been trying to network
the 2 computers without success. I have a wireless network, and both
computers successfully connect to the internet.

The laptop can see the Mac in the Network and Sharing control panel, but
will not connect. I get a "Logon unsuccessful" message. The Mac can "see"
the laptop on the network, but gives a message,"The alias 'computername-PC'
could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found."

I have tried off and on for hours to solve the problem. Does anyone have a
solution? And, my wife, who is not computer savvy, will be also using the
laptop, often in my absence. Once "solved", is this going to be a continuing
problem?
