changing an icon in shortcut

hello all please can anyone help, i want to know if you can change the icon
for a shortcut of a video file to a picture file.  I have created a shortcut
to a video file but when i change the icon to a pretty picture it does
nothing, can this be done? oh and cheers to ms for saying that i need to pay
$200 to answer this question

Since you're referring to Shortcuts, which is Microsoft Windows feature,
you may want to post your question in a Windows forum rather than this
one, which is dedicated to Macintosh topics.

If you're referring to Macintosh aliases then I'm not surprised
Microsoft would want to charge you to answer an Apple-related question.
