Windows XP..  I have audio from Windows Media Player, or CD player or other
media, however I am unable to hear any system type audio (error beeps, new
mail, etc.)  The audio settings are set up to windows defaults.  Anyone with
thougts?  Please advise....

Thanks!

double check that.....
a: that the default is not in fact all system event sounds off
b: for the individual system events, there is actually a sound file assigned
to it.
c: that the audio files corresponding to the system events still exist.
