Hi,

is there a way to make firefox the default browser on OS X? I just
installed Thunderbird, and clicking a link in an email opens Netscape..
:( - reason for installing thunderbird was to get rid of netscape...

Thanks, best,

Job

It's goofy, but what I think you have to do is open Safari and tell it
what your default browser is - that's what I had to do to make Netscape
7.2 my default over Safari when I upgraded to Tiger.

Yes, its an Apple thing
It started in 10.2 when Apple made Apple Mail the standard (default)
email program, and then continued with Safari in later versions of the
system.  The Internet Control Panel doesnt exist in later systems
because its not required, you set the default browser in Safari, and set
the default email (news) program in Apple Mail.

Setting the defaults to their own products is a way of encouraging use
of those products, or at least getting people to try them out. But Apple
provides a simple method of changing (within the program) if it doesnt
work out.

Job,

In Firefox go to Tools > Options > General > and press the CHECK NOW
button in the Default Browser section. It'll ask you which browser you
want as default.
