Opening menu in Firefox/Camino

If I open the menu in Firefox (for example, Bookmarks), the application
seems to hang: any page that's loading in that instant pauses, the
complete gui (except the menus) freezes. It even seems that any ongoing
download pauses. When one closes the menu, it all resumes, animations
start moving again, and downloads keep downloading.
I've noticed this doesn't happen in Camino. Is this a Mac OS X bug? Is
there a way to solve it? I'm using Mac OS X 10.3.8 and Firefox 1.0.2.
Thanks

Alejandro

It really doesnt 'freeze' it only appears that way.
In Firefox, when you open a menu, that becomes the focus, and any other
windows (in the background) are not refreshed or updated to reflect
their current status. As soon as you release the menu, then that window
has focus again and is updated.

For example:   Say you go to a site that takes 15 seconds to completely
load.
If you go to the site, then quickly open a menu, the page appears to
'freeze', but if you have the menu open for 15 seconds (or more), when
you close the menu, the page pops up completely loaded.
