I am pretty new to newsgroups and was wondering where I can find more
groups. I used to use Agent on my friends computer but don't know where
to find a group list like that on Mac

You start usually with a news server provided by your ISP
Depending upon the ISP that may be anywhere from 100 to 25000 newsgroups

There are also pay news servers (such as giganews) that may be available
to you
As well as specialized news servers like the one from Netscape (that
this group is on actually)

snews://secnews.netscape.com
note: access to secnews requires an SSL capable newsreader such as
Netscape (any) Mozilla suite or Thunderbird or even (ugh) Outlook
contains several public and non-public groups for macintosh users

Macintosh specific groups
snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.macintosh      (for Communicator
(4x) or Navigator (3x) problems)
snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.netscape6.macintosh  (for Netscape
6 problems [moribund])
snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.netscape7.macintosh (for Netscape
7 problems)
snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.mozilla.user.mac  (For Mozilla
(suite) problems)

General groups (non platform specific)
snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.mozilla.firebird  (for Firefox
problems [all platforms])
snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.mozilla thunderbird (for
Thunderbird problems [all platforms])
snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.mozilla.user.general (for General
discussion of Mozilla products and problems)
snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.test.multimedia (for HTML users in
email and news [all platforms])

Macintosh specific groups within the mozilla developers hierarchy (so
termed public)
snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.public.mozilla.mac
snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.public.mozilla.macosx

Note: secnews also contains windows specific groups, linux specific
groups in addition to the above.

General Macintosh orientated newsgroups available on usenet (use your
ISPs news server to access these)

Addendum

snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.mozilla.firefox

has just been added to the server, it will serve in PLACE of the now
moribund netscape.mozilla.firebird  group
