The behaviors seem to have changed again. The most noticeable is that when I
click on a URL in a message in thunderbird, if the default browser is already
open, it is not given focus on the desktop. It will either stay in the
background, or if minimised, stay minimised. My default browser is Firefox 1.0.
This could be a firefox issue though.
Second, I have had several hangs requiring forced quits. It appears to be a
deadlock situation where I have just clicked on a menu command and the browser
has something else happening, possibly incoming mail. I do have several mail
filters defined and the processing they instigate may be related.
I did not havr these issues with version .8 and may go back as the deadlock is
happening frequently.

I think this definitely a firefox issue.
FF 1.0 had added the default 'feature/setting' of opening new links targetted at it from another program to open in the current/front window ... I found that a bit annoying .. you can go to:
Firefox > Preferences > Advanced >
    Tabbed Browsing /
Open Links from other applications in:
        * a new window

that's what i have selected and I'm thinking if you change that, you're behaviour will go back to (what I would call) "normal".

Hmm ... don't have a deadlock issue, and I have a decent amount of filters that run over several accounts. Sorry, can't help you out w/ that one ... you can always try to start w/ a fresh profile and see if it happens (not a pleasant thought, though, to be sure).

.9 has a few bug fixes which I find relieving (hitting 'check mail' button always used to bring up "This inbox is locked for processing' or something like that when you have a number of accounts to check from ... that was fixed and each mailbox checking thread is patient and waits for the other to do what it does ... so that to me is worth it.

-steve
