Hey folks ...

I was just wondering if I was the only one here ... Firefox RC 1 when it boots up always just starts w/ the Firefox menu item (nothing else) .. when you switch to another program and switch back all the menus come back (well ... I actually saw = this in bugzilla while I was digging around for the real show stopping bug I have going on here)

What I didn't see in bugzilla was the fact that the only window that receives focus is the first window that opened w/ the app... for instance ...

1) fire up the app for the first time
2) switch programs and come back so the menubar oddity goes away
3) open a new window
4) Hit command-L
5) Start typing a new url

you'll see that the typing is being sent to the first window
also, if you click on any of your toolbar bookmarks in the second window, the first window is the one that opens the bookmark ...

I must have not been searching well enough in bugzilla, but I didn't see that bug reported ...
anyway else having this issue?

regards,
-steve

Hey folks,

Along with the last post I mentioned about Firefox .9 .. the same behaviour is happening w/ the new RC of TBird .7 ... Funny Menu behaviour and only one window can keep the focus at a time until you switch to another program and back, when you do that, the uppermost window in tbird and firefox can handle input events, nothing else ... you have to keep switching back and forth to 'reset' sometype of something for another window to get focus.

Thing is, I've found that on my machine it seems to only happen when I'm using CodeTek's VirtualDesktop application ... I was wondering if anyone else uses VirtualDesktop .. if you do, do you notice this behaviour?

I wonder tho, what happened over the course of a few days in the moz code that triggered this.

I d/led the Firefox nightly about a week before the RC was announced and had no problems .. when I d/led the Firefox RC this behaviour showed up, now TBird is doing it too ... good place to start the witch hunt.

I know VirtualDesktops is doing some kinda funky stuff on its own, so I'm not necessarily saying it's purely just a moz thing, but it JUST started happening, so it would be interesting to see if it's happening to anyone else and maybe we can go file something on bugzilla and bug the folks at codetek too ...

Steve,

I have the same problem.  I wrote CodeTek, but have not heard back
yet.

AHA!

There's more like me ... misery loves company :-)

Thing is tho, in the meantime I've been using http://wsmanager.sourceforge.net/ as a virt desktop app and it's been working just swimmingly.

I'm sure you've looked at it before when you were coughing up the do for CodeTek's version ... they just released a new incremental upgrade and it seems to be ok for me for now (at least I can still use virt desktops to some degree and my main squeeze internet apps).

Just a heads up for you in the interim, please let me know if they get back to you.
