Hey folks,
I'm interested in finding the time to get my hands dirty w/ Moz and somehow get Apple Address book Integration support for Tbird .. I looked around on this forum and the netscape.publice.mozilla.macosx for any hint/clue that maybe someone may have started this or this is on some type of roadmap for thunderbird, but couldn't find anything.
Sorry if I missed something, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of if this work is in progress (and if so, who can be contacted)?
If it's not in progress:
a) who'd like to help? :-)
b) would this functionality be best implemented as a plugin or part of tbird itself?
tbird .6 on OSX has wonderfully added a mail notification 'action' on OSX to update the icon in the dock when there is new unread mail (which is great .. one of the main reasons I wouldn't use it as a main client .. and lack of address book support, but I plan to fix that! :-) and that's roled into the app itself, so I'm thinking address book integration would go along the same lines .. but maybe it might get too 'dirty' ...
any and all input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
-steve
ps - This was posted in the ... netscape.publice.mozilla.mail-news group as well.

I've got something like this limping along, never found the time to
finish it. How about you file a bug and I'll to try to fish that diff
out of my archives and attach it there?

There already is abug, just attach the patch. Btw Camino plays with
adress book integration in it's bookmark code you might get hints in
that source too.

FYI, the relevant bugs are:
Moz: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203927
TB: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=218145
Good luck!

Steve I would suggest you try to make Apple's Address book support an extention... as that's what I
think thats what TB address book should be... thats just my input...

I was leaning towards that as I wouldn't have to mess around w/ the actual codebase and somehow start by slapping something somewhat functional on it from the outside, then we could make it better and better as time went on.
we'll see how it progresses.
