Hi. I'm using Messenger 6.0.1, and I am in a small lan with 5 computers, 2
PCs 3 Macs, and file transfer between any of them is extremely slow. Also if
I send files to people outside the lan. I have no firewall, proxy or NAT.
Each computer has its own IP, using the latest Messenger version. PCs with
its antivirus updated, as well as the windows security updates.
So, how can I speed up the transfers? Or is it this slow because the
"encryption" that Messenger 6.0.1 has built in?
Thnx

Hi Roberto!

Can you please define "sssllllooooowwwwwwwww". What is your measurement?
How long does it take to transfer a 1MB file between two computers in
your network?

Does your network use a Corporate sever (internal server) or are you
using the Windows Live server?

Hi,
Well, lets say I am using only personal accounts, it is a home network with
a ADSL connection of 2048/1024kbps. And a 1mb file would be transferred from
2 computers in around 7 minutes.
I am talking mac to pc or mac to mac or pc to mac. Tthere is no problems
between pcs.
Regards

Not that I have a solution for you but what is the speed between PCs?
Seven minutes compared to what?

I'm having the same problem on an imac with the latest msn.  file
transfer is incredibly slow. I have all the recommended ports open on
my mac firewall and 3rd-party software firewall.  Something is
definitely wrong with this latest release of MSN!!

I have the same problem here. I have opened all ports for MSN and even
tried it without NAT and firewall, but file transfer is still around
1kb/s. Activity Monitor shows short peaks (faster transfer rate) in
network transfer, but overall transfer rate is very low. PC and
Messenger in the same subnet works without problems.

Yep, same problem Here. Version 6.0.1, but, the most important, on the same
Mac, Mercury Messenger and iChat, works fine, very fast. My download/upload
is 3mbit/896, but in messenger is never faster than 5-6 kb/sec.

Please help...
