Import saved conversations into new machine

I copied everything from my old user account to FW drive, rebuilt my
MBP and reinstalled 10.4.8. Using MSN 6.0.1.

Now I want to import old saved conversations so I can read them using
View > Conversation menu.

Any ideas?

I never save my conversations, but I *suspect* they are saved in the
~/Document/Microsoft User Data folder.
Take a look there to figure out whether you can find the file.
If you can, I would simply copy it over to the same location on the
other Mac.

Thanks, but I did that already and no go.

However on closer inspection that I had 2 folders - Microsoft Messenger
History and MSN Messenger History. The former contained HMTL files
which were readable outside of MSN. Must have happened with updated
version.

Yeah, the app changed name and that must have messed-up things. So if
you move the files to the Microsoft Messenger folder, does it make them
show up in the Conversation menu??

We import the files on first run of the application. If you need to import
your files you need to clear your com.messenger.microsoft.plist file in your
~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft folder and setup Messenger from the First
Time Wizard. At the end of the setup, we do the upgrade of the old history
files.

Thanks,
Rebecca

hello there

I have also recently got a new machine and backed up my conversation history
files [well actually the entire Microsoft User Data folder that has all my
mails and settings in it] but when I put it back on my new computer I can
see my conversation history, but it seems to have lost the dates on all the
conversations.  it now cant list them in date order because the date field
just reads " ---- "

on closer inspection on the Microsfot User Data folder, now that messenger6
has upgraded the conversation files to an html format, I can open each html
file ok and also each .htm file has the correct date in the filename eg.
"Messenger 04.06.06 somebody@hotmail.com.htm" but why won the conversation
archive read these dates anymore.   it used to be ok im sure in older
versions of messenger.

any help would be much appreciated
thanks
kevin
