Hi,

I've been using messenger 5 and 6 (mac) with no problems until
yesterday.  Now, every time I attempt a login, it tells me the 'service
is currently unavailable'.  This problem occurs on different machines,
and other accounts have no problems logging in from these machines, so
there is a problem with my account itself.

My address is sup_cjv@hotmail.com

Is there anything I can do?  I changed the password, no help.  I've
created a new account with a different email, the new account is able
to log into messenger but as a result have lost all my contacts, and I
dont know how to import contacts from the old account.

Ideally I'd just like to get the old account working again; is there
any good reason why a particular hotmail account simply isn't able to
access the system?  Thanks in advance for any help!  Chris

Chris,

Take a look at the other topics:
"can't sign in on 6.0.1 ",
"Sign-in problems... ".

They're similar about yours.

Regards.

Still nothing :(

I must also add that this isnt a passport issue, because the account in
question is a hotmail.com address, and the new account I created today
(not an MSN email account) logs in fine.

The 'system is temporarily unavailable' message comes up when I attempt
to log in from mac AND windows machines... the account simply isn't
been accepted by messenger.

I tried deleting the pref file, on advice from Rebecca but it didnt fix
the problem (I've since discovered that it doesnt work from other
machines as well).

I tried resetting my password, in hopes that it would 'reset' things,
but no luck there, either...my account, sup_cjv at hotmail, simply can
not get onto the messenger network, after working fine for several
years.

Any ideas what to try next?

best regards,

Chris
