Can you please remove your preferences and see if that allows you to
sign-in?
To remove your existing Messenger for Mac preferences, delete the
following files in the correct User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft folder:
com.microsoft.Messenger.plist
com.microsoft.MessengerDaemon.plist
Microsoft Messenger User Cache
Once removed you will be prompted through the First Run Wizard again.
Thanks,
Rebecca

I too am having this problem. I deleted these files, and in fact all
vestiges of the program from my computer, and reinstalled version 6
again, but still it fails to sign in. Nothing is written to the console
or elsewhere.
I have reversioned to Microsoft Messenger for Mac 5.1.1, which does
sign in.
This problem occurs on all my computers, suggesting that there is a
problem with the 6.0 version code. If you have a version that does
error logging, I'll gladly test it to find out what's being messed up.

Hi,
Were you on the Windows Live Beta by any chance? We have had a few issues
from users who were on the beta.
Do you have any proxies set? Are you behind a firewall?
Thanks,
Rebecca

Are you all using a passport account or a hotmail account? If you are using
a hotmail account, can you please go to a web browser and login to your
account and see if you can add a contact to your hotmail address book?
Also, if you have a PC and can try to sign-in using Windows Live Messenger,
that would be helpful to see if that works.
Thanks,
Rebecca

Hello, I downloaded and installed the new MSN messenger 6.0 for
Macintosh and it will not let me log in. I completely uninstalled the
previous version from my Mac and I also deleted the preferences in:
~/User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/
---com.microsoft.Messenger.plist
---com.microsoft.MessengerDaemon.plist
Once MSN was completely removed from my Mac, I tried reinstalling
Messenger 6.0. I went through the same setup as before and when it
came time for me to log in, Messenger would appear to sign me in but
after a minute or so, it would go back to the program sign-in window
without signing me in. There were no error messages, it just jumped me
back to the sign-in.
I uninstalled it and rebooted and reinstalled Messenger 6.0 again but
the exact same thing happened. My account has the read-write access
that is specified on the official MSN 6.0 page.
I reverted back to MSN Messenger v5.1 and everything works fine.

Thanks for the help, but after removing all of the Messenger-related
files and reinstalling, the problems still existed.
I've now switched to a different client. But thanks anyway.
