HOW do i receive a webcam image from someone using a PC, when i am using the
Mac? i have iSight (Mac's webcam) with iChat (Mac's chat program). of course,
both of use the latest versions of MSN Msgr for the PC and the Mac. when the
sender invites me to view the webcam image (which can be seen on his end),
and upon my YES click to ACCEPT, i receive a message repeatedly that "webcam
user is not online", when in fact, we are chatting!
SO, what needs to be done to establish the 'handshake'? by the way, MY
WEBCAM IMAGE (using iSight and iChat) gets across easily to the PC-user. thx.

Unfortunately, Messenger for Mac does not have the ability to do video &
audio chat.  You could try using another program like iChat (and AOL Instant
Messenger on the PC end) for that.

You should send feedback to Microsoft if you want to see this feature in a
future version of Messenger.  In Messenger, go to Help > Send Feedback.
Otherwise, click on this direct link to enter Mac Product Feedback:

I just upgraded my Messanger to 5.1.1 and the web-cam option has gone?

I had it before but, not now...bummer

Hi,

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the web-cam option has gone however
Microsoft Messenger for Mac and MSN Messenger for Mac have never supported
webcam and hence webcam cannot be used with those apps.

I think you may be referring to the PC version of MSN Messenger or Windows
Live Messenger which could be detecting that it's talking to the Mac version
and therefore hiding the Webcam icon as it cannot be used with Mac users at
the moment.

All I can suggest unfortunately is that you send your feedback on this to
the Macintosh Business Unit who are responsible for the features and
development on the Mac version of Messenger by going to:

Or you could download Mercury Messenger for the MAC - it lets you login to
your MSN account, chat and use a webcam..

Mark.
