I am having a problem with Microsoft Messenger for the last several
weeks. When i go to the change display picture window, i cannot open
any of my saved photos. Because of this, I am stuck with only the stock
display pictures and the one i was using when the problem started.

Any help would be appreciated,
Stephen

Hi Stephen

It is possible that one or two of the Messenger files have become corrupt
which could be causing this.

What I'd ask you to try doing is remove the preference files for Messenger:

*NOTE: before you do this make sure you don't have Messenger running!*

1) Go to your home folder and select Library > Preferences > Microsoft
2) delete com.microsoft.Messenger.plist
3) delete com.microsoft.MessengerDaemon.plist
4) Go back to your home folder and select Documents > Microsoft User Data
5) Select Microsoft Messenger Data and delete all of the folders inside this.

This will innevitably delete all custom display pics you've added to
messenger before so it will only list the default ones. However this also
clears the cache and should sort this problem.

If you open Messenger after doing this and then add your custom display pics
back in you should find that they work and you're able to change them again.

If this still fails then I'd try re-installing messenger completely by
removing everything associated with Microsoft Messenger from the computer and
re-downloading the application from the Mactopia site.

To uninstall Microsoft Messenger delete the following files:

in Home > Library > Preferences > Microsoft

delete com.microsoft.Messenger.plist
delete com.microsoft.MessengerDaemon.plist

in Home > Documents > Microsoft User Data

delete the Microsoft Messenger Folder
delete the Messenger Corporate Data Folder

Once you have done this, go to http://www.microsoft.com/mac and download the
latest version of Microsoft Messenger for your machine.

Once the disk image has mounted, drag Microsoft Messenger to the desktop to
copy it to your computer then double click it to install. Once you've
installed it drag Microsoft Messenger from your desktop to your Applications
Folder and then drag the Microsoft Messenger disk as well as dmg file from
the desktop to the trash.

Hopefully that should resolve this issue

Rob!
