I finally broke down and installed the messenger that came with the copy of
office 2004 for mac I bought.
So, I get it all installed and it give me a screen saying that I must
install the newest version to make it work.
I said yes and it downloaded a messenger.bin.uncompresses to my desktop but
it does not know program it needs to open it and neither do it.

I try to open it with stuffit expander but it doesn't work.

Suggestions ?

Thank you very much

Tillo

You might need a newer version of StuffIt Expander, available for free here:

Where did you get your copy of Messenger?  What version of OS X are you
running?

Sorry if you have posted this info previously.

So you have an Office 2004 CD and you have installed Messenger from that
CD and you get an error that it cannot be opened (because it is compressed)?

Have you tried downloading the latest version of Messenger to your
computer?  It can be found at:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default.aspx?pid=msnmessenger

I have the same problem.  I downloaded the update from msn's website
and have that uncompressed file.  Does anyone know of a program that
will expand it?  I cant do anything with it right now.  What program
opens it?  I have messenger from the cd, and this file from their
website, but I got nothing.

Thanks

Can you provide me with the exact link that you downloaded Messenger
from?  When I download it from the following link
(http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/download/
misc/messenger51_download.xml&secid=35&ssid=28&flgnosysreq=True
)
I get the following file: Messenger510.dmg - which is an OSX disk
archive and OSX knows how do open it for me...

I tried the suggestion made by Greg on 3/21 and downloaded the version
from the link he said.  Have you tried it, I did and it worked...
