I've tried downloading the Messenger 4.01 dmg file using both the old
Messenger program and from the website, and the file fails to mount.
Any thoughts? I'm using OSX 10.3.8 on a Titanium Powerbook.

Thanks,

Pete

Okay, my bad...I just had to rebuild permissions, and it mounted just
fine...

i had same problem; can you explain how to rebuild the permissions?

Try repairing permissions.
For OS 10.2/10.3:
Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities.  Open up Disk Utility.  Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab.   Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".

For OS 10.1.5:
Download the Repair Privileges utility, free from Apple, and run it:
