I have recently converted to mac and have brought a Powerbook G4.
Since using it I can't get MSN Messenger to stay logged in and it is
driving me MAD. It appears that i am on-line at my end but when I go
to MSN someone I am logged out. It seems to be happening after a
couple of minutes. Can anyone help or advise? I have contacted MSN
support 3 times and been fobbed off with a standard message telling me
to re-install, which hasn't solved the problem.
Any help would be much appreciated - before my Mac goes through the
window and I dig out my old laptop and windows!!
Thanks
Sarah B
I have a similar problem with my iBook. Are you on a wireless network
by any chance?
I've noticed I can just be sitting and waiting on a friend while i do
something else and Messenger logs me off... sometimes without even
changing the display... so i even think i'm still online.
The other odd thing is a buddy will sign-off and i'll get bumped off
line.
And, like you, there will be nothing wrong with my other network
connections, or any other computer in the house. I've tried messing
with my time-out settings and my power management settings without
success.
And yet, same operating system, same MSN at work and it never has this
problem. And my husband's powerbook with the same MSN version has had
the problem once or twice, but not as often as mine.
Go figure. I don't have an answer, just the same problem.

Hi Eileen
Snap! I am using an Airport. I tried changing a setting on my
router, as suggested in a previous posting, but that didn't cure it
either. It is sooooo annoying as no-one seems to be able to giev me
an answer and I used to use MSN alot but can only use it when I am
near a PC now. Defeats the point of having a mac really if you have
to use a PC as well!!
