Really happy to see this update. Is offline message support coming soon?

Tried it, didn't work. I get an error saying the service is not
available. I used the same corporate settings from version 6.0.3. Does
this version only work with Office Communications Server 2007? I
switched back to version 6.0.3 and it still works.

That is correct.

-Messenger 6.0.3 supports LCS 2005 and has limited support for OCS 2007
-Messenger 7.0 supports OCS 2007 and includes corporate A/V functionality
and other new features.

Thanks,
Rebecca

Hello. I'd like to post my thought on this new messenger. Let's start
with a preamble: I only use Messenger with a personal account, then
with the Windows Live network. At first, when I saw the Macupdate
post, i thought: "Wow, finally here it is!". I downloaded like a
flash, copied in the Application folder, run it... And, i'm sorry to
say, I was REALLY disappointed. I mean: new features are? The search
box and nicknames? I was looking for offline messages, animoticons,
maybe tabbed chat... Nothing was there. Even the old bugs, such as
erasing from the contact list those contacts I don't have anymore
(with 4 other clients -- Adium, aMSN, Mercury and WLM on Windows
they're gone, why Microsoft Messenger keeps showing me them?) was
there. So... Unless I'm doing something wrong, Microsoft Messenger has
a LONG way to go. And please, note that I'm not even metioning A/V, so
the same old story "we're moving to a new protocol so we're waiting
for it" (that, from a computer sciences student, it's perfectly
understandable) won't work :)

Sorry if this seems too rude, but I was really let down this time... I
only hope I made some positive criticism.

Make sure your computer's clock is set to synchronize to the domain controller. I'm told that the Mac implementation of Kerberos is extremely sensitive to clock sync issues (even as little as 30 seconds!).

I can't get it to work either. Running Win XP on Parallels I can get MS Communicator to work without a problem. However, on the Mac side (10.5.2) with the same settings and certificate I get the message that date or time is incorrect or certificate invalid.

I work in a Windows shop so I am having to troubleshoot on my own. Any suggestions for what I can do? I really don't want to keep running Win XP on Parallels just for corporate IM functionality.

Is your company running OCS 2007 or LCS 2005? Messenger 7 only supports OCS
2007.

Thanks,
Rebecca

How do we tell which version our company is using?  6.0.3 works, though at
times very unreliably (a lot of messages "bounce").  I was hoping 7 would fix
that but I can't login using it.

You'll need to ask your Office Communications Server administrator or
Help Desk. Messenger 7.0 will not work with OCS 2003. It will only work
with OCS 2007.

What do you mean by "bounce" when using Messenger? Do you receive error
messages? The messages should send instantly.

Hope this helps!

Are there any plans to add support for LCS 2005 in Messenger 7? My large 90,000 person company moves like a turtle with upgrades (ie move to 2007). Having messenger 7 would allow me to have more of the features offered within Communicator 2005 if it could support LCS 2005. Thanks for your consideration.

Hi Lee, at this time there are no plans to support LCS 2005 with Messenger
7. Messenger 7 was focused on supporting OCS 2007 and adding A/V support. I
will pass your request to our Program Management, but have been told in the
past we are not going to support this setup.

Thanks,
Rebecca
