Why can't I delete contacts?

Every time I have tried to delete a contact for the past two months
(MSN 6.0.3), i get an error message saying "The server was unable to
remove user.  Please try again." Nothing I do will allow me to delete
the user.  Why is this happening and what do I have to do to delete a
user?

Thank you

I can't tell what is going on but I can tell how to remove your
contacts if you want it to.

Go www.meebo.com and log in (it's 100% safe, unless your browser/
system is infected with some kinda virus, anyway..) and delete the
contacts you want from meebo buddy list appeared on your right.

cheers,
Christos

Interesting...meebo doesn't show me the contacts that i tried to
delete.  it seems that msn DID delete them but tells me it didn't and
still shows the deleted ones in msn.  microsoft, go figure...

thanks for your help

I'd quite like to bump this. I've got lots of contacts that I'd like to
delete off my list. They're obviously not on the server any more (I did the
meebo check) but it's still a pain that they're in my MSN contacts list.

I'm guessing it can't delete them because they no longer actually exist.
I've had a google around but can't find an answer for this so far.

Hi,

After checking on past posts regarding this issue, it looks like those
originally experiencing this behavior may have been using Mac Messenger
6.0.3. Are you seeing this on Messenger 6.0.3, or Messenger 7?

Can you please try deleting your Microsoft Messenger user cache, and then
tell me if you still see those contacts? You can do this via the following
steps:
1. Quit Mac Messenger if it is already running.
2. Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft.
3. Delete the "Microsoft Messenger User Cache.plist" file located in this
directory.
4. Log back in to Mac Messenger.

Please let me know if this has any effect on your contact list.

Thanks!

Hi Zack,

That's done it. I had a quick play-around with the preferences file, and
even deleting the individual user-data had no effect. When restarting
Messenger, I just had a load of dialogue boxes telling me those contacts who
I had deleted had added me to their contact lists.

I'm now on v7, although this problem has been around for me since v6. Thanks
for helping!

Hi, I have a similar problem. I have deleted the cache file as described above but the unwanted contact still appears in my contacts list in the preferences window in messenger. Is there anyway I can remove it from my profile altogether?

Thanks heaps

Rosie
