Having phoned Microsoft and discovered that Microsoft don't support MSN messenger for Mac by phone, I have been told that the only support available is to write a post on this forum.

We cannot sign in using Microsoft messenger for mac 6.0.3 - used under Mac OS 10.5.2. We have tried on three different macs, and on vista (running on Parallels). All have problems and cannot sign in. We've even tried using a third party application but even that can't log in. Nor can we sign in if we use a friend's internet service provider.

Does Microsoft even care about Microsoft Messenger for Mac? It is a two year old program and Microsoft just told me that it is a free program and is unsupported by phone.

I don't know whether this is related, but we installed Office 2008 a couple of weeks ago.

Sorry for starting up a new thread, but I would like replies, rather than it be at the end of another very very long thread.

Well, since you have tried it on three different Macs, on a third party app
AND *on Vista*, this does not seem to be a problem related to Messenger, but
rather to your Live ID, which you use to sign in (@hotmail.com address). Can
you verify if Messenger for Mac still works by asking a friend to sign in
through his/her Live ID on your computer?

I have the same problem. I am not able to sing in, neither on the
Leopard nor on the Windows XP (boot camp). This is happening to me
after a trip where I got connected in several hot spots, I saw the
case of a guy with similar problem, he mention that there is a proxy
setting.

I really have no idea about it. If you can fix it please give me an
advice.

Cheers,

I've got a related problem: first time account setup went OK until I was told to expect an email with an important link. I never got the email. I tried changing the password, hoping to force a new email, but no luck; MSN just complained that I had the wrong password when I tried to login.

It's probably related to establishing a Hotmail account, but I don't know how to get there from here.

I can't find any support for MSN on the Website, only the Office products.
