As of a couple of days ago, my online buddies can SEE me online, but cannot send me NEW messages.

I can IM them and they can REPLY when I IM them first, but they cannot initiate a new message.

I haven't changed any of my settings. Furthermore, I'm having the same problem on BOTH my Macs, so I know its not the software. Could something be wrong with my account? Is anyone else in the same boat?

Thanx

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I have exactly the
same. I believe I'm seen online by some contacts and offline to
others. But one fact i do know is that they can't IM before i initiate
the conversation. It also seems that if i dont always have the
conversation with the person constantly as my focus and Im not writing
constantly, they are not able to reply back. It is really annoying. My
contact receives the message 'The following message could not be
delivered'   when trying to IM me.

This started to begin i think a couple of days ago and as far as i can
remember i didnt change any settings at all. I have deleted msn and
and reinstalled/downloaded it. I have also tried using programs such
as aMSN but im not sure they work thoroughly either.

I tried using my old acount which is a @hotmail.com and it seems to be
working fine. Which leads me to believe that this is all due to the
address?

What was your other account? Mine is an @mac.com.

Ok, same here. Looks like a .mac-"issue" with Messenger. Hope it gets fixed soon. My Live-ID account is still working.

I switched to a hotmail-address and now my friends can contact me again. BUT the contacts window shows some contacts as offline, even when they are still online. Open chats do not show the "offline" notification at the same time. Really strange...

same problem here!
And I am also using a dot mac account!
This happens since a couple of days!!

A usual Microsoft problem with dot mac accounts?? A different issue happened before with dot mac accounts.

Can somebody help?

Exact same problem, with only .mac accounts.
I was starting to wonder if I had pissed off all my friends.... Nobody
was IMing me!!!

Some please help!
iknowtony@officeformac.com - 27 Feb 2008 05:20 GMT
Apparently they are aware of the problem but don't have an ETA on the fix. They're collecting more information so PLEASE go the web site below and register this as a problem:

<https://support.msn.com/eform.aspx?productKey=messenger&ct=eformts>

This will ensure that it gets prioritized. Make sure you tell them that it works fine on non-@mac.com accounts, and you've already reinstalled the software.
