Hello,
messenger 8.1

A friend adds me to their list.  I get the request to subscribe to their
updates and all that.  After this they don't show up on my list in any
status.  They simply aren't there.  I've tested this several times, and I can
never see them until they send a message.

I don't think this is normal behavior.    Any suggestions?

I've tried this on Vista Home premium, vista business 64, and XP pro 64 with
the same result.

Thanks.

I'm actually having the same problem with Messenger for Mac. Added a contact, he hadn't authorized me yet, I had a system crash and he's not in my list like he was before the crash happened. Tested with other IM clients on other computers, same problem. Is there maybe a tool I can use to check if there's any pending authorizations or something to make sure that the server is at least doing its job on its end? I lost the guy's contact data because of the crash, and I'd hate for everything to be completely lost in the aether.
