my messenger doesn't play alert sounds!

I've cheked everything... even unninstalling it and making a new
install.. and it keep doing the same thing... it doesn't play any
alert sounds.. it is activated, but doesn't play any sound!

First, make sure that your speakers are working & connected and that your
volume is raised.

That's a known issue. Try setting them all back to the default sounds
(Contact Online 1/New Mail 1/New Message 1/New Alert 1).
