Hi, just wondering if you are able to sign in on Webmessenger?
http://webmessenger.msn.com
Also, have you tried a new Admin user account?
You may have to delete your preferences in the existing account, they
may have become corrupt.
* All preferences are located in your ~/Library/Preferences/
Microsoft
folder
* com.microsoft.Messenger.plist
* com.microsoft.MessengerDaemon.plist
* Microsoft Messenger User Cache
* Microsoft Messenger User Cache.plist
Also, verify the following:
~ Check to see if you have the OS Firewall enabled. If so, make sure
you have an exception for the listing "MSN Messenger". If not, you
will need to create a New exception. The OS firewall settings are set
in System Preferences | Sharing | Firewall tab.
~ If you have a firewall on your router, please make sure to add
Messenger as an exception or open the ports for chatting. Port 1863
over TCP.
~ If you are behind proxies, please make sure they are setup
correctly in the System Preferences | Network. If that doesn't help,
please set them up manually in Messenger | Preferences | Accounts.
Make sure you have the correct "Type" chosen.
~ Are you running any network traffic utilities, such as Little
Snitch, NetBarrier, etc. If so, please make sure you are running the
latest version.
You will need to make sure you have allowed Messenger as an exception
in any utility that blocks network traffic, or you will be unable to
sign-in.
This can sometimes happen if you are using a router or are on a
network and there has a been a Firewall software update, firmware
update etc. It seems to throw everything off.
Hope this helps :)

I'm actually having the exact same issue, and have tried all your
solutions to no result. My mac is a work computer, and other people in
the office do not have this issue, despite having the exact same
programs and preferences. Even my IT guy followed your advice and
could get no result. I even tried completely deleting all associated
program paths, and downloading the program new. The problem still
occurs. Any tips or should i just give up?
