mac & messenger?

I use ibook G4...also the latest version of messenger 6.0.2....but i can't
use my external webcam...is it because the messenger doesn't support AV? so
how can i do the video chat with my friends? (my friends using windows)thx

That is correct, MSN on the Mac does not support AV (you're lucking if
it works in Windows anyway).

You do have some options though.

If you have to use MSN, then you can download a program called aMSN,
which will allow you to use video (you can't see all those sweet little
emoticons and nudges that are popular, but I thinks that's an
advantage).

You can also use many of the other chat protocols that are around too,
and they all work with AV on the Mac. Of course this does rely on the
people you need to talk with using the same systems.

Skype is one, you don't have to use it as a phone, you can just use
chat.

GoogleTalk, if you have a Gmail account, then you can use Gtalk as well.
This works fine with iChat AV, but you will need to use either an iSight
camera, or a USB webcam that's compatible with a Mac, and use extra
software to make it work with iChat.

Yahoo Chat, has its own application that does AV as well, also works in
iChat the same as GTalk.
