Did the others not see my posting?

I'm curious.....

Tonight at 8:10 an original posting was made.

At 8:15 I posted a response.

Between 8:15 and 10:15 several more postings were made in response to the
original, these additional postings effectively stating the same thing as I
had stated.

My question then is did those persons who posted responses subsequent to mine
not see the response I made?

As a possible clarification, all of the postings were made to a single
newsgroup.

Probably not.  USENET is a store-and-forward system, and it's pretty far
from instantaneous.

If you use the term "virii" to describe viruses, you are a schmuck.

I assume it was by you. The only posting I see here that was originally
by you is the 'Bounced Mail' one that has a timestamp of 6:15 PST for
me. I see no other posts originating from you on Supernews.
Or I misunderstand as I nearly always do. Do you have a message
reference?

Leo,

The "original posting" I was referring was not made by me, but I was the
first respondent. The topic in question was "Parallels only runs on Intel
Macs?" My query was brought about by the fact that several others responded
to that original posting with answers that were substantially the same as
mine.

I'll check it and give you a list of people in order from my server.

I have TJ at 6:10 PM and Mr. Rutishauser at 9:44 PM. You were at 6:15 PM
as you say. Mr. Balderstone was at 6:21 PM. Mr. Margolin was at 6:31 PM
and so forth.
Your post was definitive but may not have propagated to other servers
before others responded. Also, I'm ashamed to say, I occasionally like
to add my two bits to an already answered post.

It's very likely that they did not. There's absolutely no guarantee of
the timing or ordering of message propagation among Usenet hosts.

And there are probably already other responses to your post that I'm
essentially reiterating.

What I write is what I mean. I request that anyone who decides to respond
please refrain from "disagreeing" with something I didn't write in the first
place.

Probably not.  Either it had not arrived at their server; some people
download and upload news in 'batch' mode from their server; others do
not read every article in a thread before reflying; perhaps your article
never arrived at their server.

Usenet is like that.
