I'm quite new to this so apologies in advance if posted in the wrong
place or inappropriately cross-posted

I'm a syadmin on a Windows 2000 network with Win XP clients. Due to
interest from specialist users I'm experimenting with integrating a
newly acquired Mac Mini (Intel based) running OSX 10.4.10 onto the
network.

I've bound it to the Windows Domain and using Login Window Manager
from bombich.com (great site!) I can login as any AD user and get my
home directory. So far so good...

This is where I need help:

On the Windows network I can control a number of things such as
mapping to network shares , addition of printers and setting the proxy
server, all depending on group membership or location.

I'm familiar with some forms of scripting and, if there are some good
examples of mac-compatible scripts out there, it would be a good start

And on the subject of changing the Proxy Server depending on group
membership, I'm also having difficulty setting different proxy server
settings for different purposes, for instance using one setting for
Apple Updates and onother for Internet browsing.

I also want to limit access to certain applications based on group
membership (this is a school and teachers are concerned about students
keeping focussed). When I used Macs in a school many years ago, we had
a product called "At Ease" which has long ago been discontinued. I did
a bit of experimenting with Mac security on Tiger and kept getting
"You cannot turn on parental controls for an administrative user or
network account". Can someone point me in the direction of finding out
how I can emulate this sort of thing under Tiger?

As I said I'm new to this and would appreciate advice to get me over
these issues
