Are you using the third-party drivers? If so, what version? AFAIK,
these drivers only provide access to extra buttons and such, but there
may be a kernel extension that is at the root of this problem.

Logitech Control Center 1.5.0.
If I log off and on, I can restore my mouse speed by disconnecting and
reconnecting the USB plug of the receiver.
