I have 10.4.9.  In System Preferences, my mouse tracking speed is set in
the middle.  If I log out and log back in, the tracking speed will be
slow until I restart.  What could cause it?

Are you using the third-party drivers?  If so, what version?  AFAIK,
these drivers only provide access to extra buttons and such, but there
may be a kernel extension that is at the root of this problem.

Logitech Control Center 1.5.0.

If I log off and on, I can restore my mouse speed by disconnecting and
reconnecting the USB plug of the receiver.
