iPod scroll wheel to control iTunes?

Hiya,

Wondered if it were possible to somehow force the iPod's shuffle wheel
to control iTunes. Kind of like a shuttle control you get for video
editing.

It seems the perfect control for controling audio and would be great to
make use of it on my iMac hooked up to an amp and speakers with its
bigger music collection.

Any thoughts / dreams?

Aren't you describing exactly how the iMac G5 already works (with its
remote, and Front Row)? m.

Pretty much I guess - I got my G5 a while before they started shipping
them with iSight and front-row though!

This would be a wired version of that but with the proper scroll wheel.

Well, I don't know a device like that. If you want a remote that
controls iTunes, use your Bluetooth handheld device and Salling
Clicker... m.
