I understand that Spotlight will index USB and FW drives connected to
the computer.  Has anyone found out how to make it catalogue network
drives?  And / or catalogue CDs / DVDs?

Thanks

Merl

Spotlight stores the index on the drive itself, so it won't work with
read-only media.

That makes sense, thank you Sander.  I'll stop worrying about that one.

There is "Spotless" utility specializes in external drives which is a
great benefit for USB sticks.

It also have some "maintanance" options.

Network drives: I have no clue
