I have a Panasonic camcorder that uses a USB2.0 connection and I can't for
the life of me get imovie to accept an import.  Is there another way to get
OSX to allow video importing via USB2.0?

Thanks.
Andrew.

Try this:

http://web.archive.org/web/20040811095413/http://www.macmice.com/GCam.SIT

It's a general purpose capture program which may lead to a solution for you.
Technically the URL is:

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21870&vid=126650

But the download link is dead.

It hasn't been updated in 3 or 4 years so not sure if it'll work if you have
a recent intel based machine.

You might need the Pro version but keep in mind Quicktime can capture
streams from usb/fw also.
