I can't succeed in having os9 running on my old G3 (233mhz wt standard ati
rageII graphics
on board, monitor 17"applevison. the all is perfectly working on os8.
Can only start os9.2 excluding extensions; letting extension go, monitor
goes black as
when as ati supprt is loaded. same story wt 9.1.
I tried many video drivers, also the most recent ati drivers, tried to
exclude selected
extensions, no results.
If I exclude all video extensions it seems that the system loads anyhow
some ati driver.
Has anyone os9.2 working on such a platform? You can also reply to
noo_ora_no@yahoo.it.
really many thanks for any help

Where did you get the OS 9 CD from? If it wasn't a beige G3 system CD or a
universal OS 9 CD it will _not_ install the proper drivers for several items,
including the video.

Where are you getting the drivers from? And _which_ ATI drivers? IIRC ATI
doesn't supply new drivers for Apple-supplied video.
<http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html> lists the drivers ATI _does_ supply;
I could be wrong, but the RAGE II does not seem to be listed. The most recent
ATI drivers are available from
<http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/mac/macosx-ATI-displays.html> and are OS
X only. It's _impossible_ to install them on an OS 9 system.

Many, many, many people. Including me.
