I've been sent my first .xlsx file. I've only got Excel 2004, and it
does all I want so I've no desire to pay MS again. However, there are
many out there who aren't savvy enough to do any more than what MS
suggests they do, and therefore I've got this file, and I'm likely to
receive more as Office 2007 becomes even more wide-spread.
I've found that there are patches or updates for Windows versions of
office so that older versions of the software can open the more recent
files. Has anyone found anything similar for OS X versions? I don't
actually have Office, only Excel, any solutions will be gratefully
received.
Justin.

You want the Office Open XML converter (Beta), the updated MS Mactopia
site is rather useless so here is the direct link

Visit www.microsoft.com/mac and look for
Microsoft Office Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 0.2.1 (Beta)
- Although it doesn't seem to do .xlsx as yet. It's the Office 2007/8
converter pack for Office 2004, and you'll find it in the downloads
section, under Office 2004.
