Anyone any thoughts on how it will work. It would be my assumption that
anyone else who queued in Nov is probably really wanting one of the new
ones close to release rather than having to wait a full 12 months for
their contract to expire.

Do you think we will be offered an upgrade patch ? I spotted there is
talk of a 100% subsidy by O2 for new customers etc

The new ones will likely have hardware the current one lack. So a patch will
not give the same functionality. I expect you'll be able to buy a new one and
activate it on the same account with O2 as current ones. They may make you
take another 18 month contract.

So you think we can just extend the current contract? I don't want to
end up with two contracts. It would make sense that they try and cater
for the current iphone customers though ?

Not really... They know many people will, initially, want the new iPhone

But surely they have have an upgrade option open to us ? I might stink
as a deal but they won't leave us unable to upgrade for another year ?

I think they will replace the contract with another one for 18 months.

You don't need a new contract. You just buy the new phone and register
it using your existing contract.

Whilst that may be true now, has anything been announced by O2 about getting
a 3G iPhone?

Why should it be any different? You buy the phone and register it. Why
should O2 care which model of phone it is?

Because they can take the opportunity to tie people into a longer contract
period. To make more money.
