I'm looking to add a second screen to my iMac 24 and wondered if anyone
else here had such a setup or could recommend a suitable addittional
monitor?

Preferably I'm looking for one that is 23 - 24" and can be height
adjusted to match the ascreen height of the iMac.  I read a small news
piece in one of the Mac rags that stated NEC's Silverlight range were
height adjustable, does anyone have any experience of these?

Any advice and tips welcomed!

A book will do as well.
You remember, those bound sheaves of paper sheets
with ink smudges on them?

Rumour has it that you could actually read those,
instead of just using them to raise up a monitor,

You know, I may actually have one of them somwhere!  Serioulsy though,
I would have preferred a neater solution.

Moot now though as I opted for a 23" ACD in the  end.  So now I have a
nice shiny monitor sat on a gadget box!

Monitor specs on the mfr websites usually include vertical adjustment,
but if you get a monitor with a VESA mounting plate (most except the
cheapest) you can always get a more adjustable one.

Or stand the monitor on something.

I'd suggest a Dell 2408wfp, they match the 24" iMac screen well for
brightness and colour, and height. Not cheap.

That's what I remembered, too, but Google told me differently.

Although I can't change the height of my 2408 anymore for some reason, I
used to be able to, until I pushed it completely down to its lowest
position, in which it has locked.  No amount of prodding and pushing the
button on the back budges the button, let alone allows me to slide the
screen up ;)

I think something inside has gone "ping!"

I had that with my 2405 once, but taking the stand off and giving it a
spot of percussive maintenance while upside-down freed it. The 20"
never gave me any trouble.

Could be - probably fixable under warranty.

I'll give that a go. :)
